Little Ray's Training Team
We are revamping the Little Ray’s Training Team for the 2026 season. We hope this will help get more swimmers in the water and comfortable swimming the strokes!
The purpose of the training team is for children who need in-the-water swim instruction as an introduction to the world of swimming before they join the competition team, whether that’s this season or later!
* Ages 4 and up
* Must feel independently comfortable in shallow end of the pool
Practices: June 9, 2026 through July 10, 2026
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
9AM - 10AM
Tuesday morning will be an exclusive training team only practice!
Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday: separate practices running concurrently with team
Once coaches decide a Little Ray is capable of swimming 25 meters, a Little Ray swimmer is welcome to participate in all morning practices and meets, if he/she so desires, for the remainder of the 2026 season.
All training team swimmers will be invited to participate in an exhibition “meet” either during a late night swim or Friday AM practice- date TBD for 2026!
For consideration:
- We understand all swimmers might not make it the full hour at first, or even at all, this season. The expectation would be at least 30 minutes of attentiveness.
- Come to as many of the sessions that work for your swimmer and family
- Highly recommend making the exclusive Tuesday morning practice!
- You will be surprised how quickly your swimmer will progress with practice.
Cost to join training team:
Wildwood (WARA) Stockholder Members: $125 per child
Non-Wildwood (WARA) Stockholder: $225 per child***
Each training team swimmer will receive a Wildwood 2026 season t-shirt, but not a swim cap, and will be invited to participate in all team social events throughout the season, if desired.
***Swimmers participating in the Lynchburg Aquatic League (LAL) must be a member of the pool associated with their swim team. The league is open to both year-round and summer league only swimmers. Due to its unique membership limitations, WARA offers a Swim Team Only Membership. This Membership entitles only the swimmer with full membership rights. Parents are permitted as guests and must pay the per day/person guest fee when attending the pool at non-practice times.
*Registration deadlines: May 22, 2026 to receive t-shirt by first practice and June 5, 2026 in order to have option to participate in an official LAL meet for the 2026 season.
